New Every Morning

New Every Morning

Lamentations 3:21-25 (NIV)
21 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: 22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24 I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him." 25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;

Happy New Year! I look back on the year past and I am so grateful for the wonderful things God has done at Grace Baptist. What a Year? We have seen many new believers, new members, new ministries and new reasons to be faithful to the Lord and what he wants to do through us next. That is the thing about our faith, the work is never done so I pray that he continues to bless us in the coming year. As for our individual years, I am sure that some have had great ones and some of you have had years that you wish to forget. Here is the good news. Every day, not just every year, there is a new opportunity. We have a chance each morning to hit that reset button and get it right this time. In the passage above, Jeremiah has been devastated by what has happened to his homeland in Judah. He has spent decades warning the people to live for God or suffer the consequences but now it is too late. He can only pick up the pieces. But in the midst of his pain he realizes something important. He still has God. Since he does that means he still has God’s love and compassion. He still has hope. In fact he says this: ‘The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;’ Folks, no matter what season of life you are in, that is a message for us each year. It’s time to refocus on the work at hand. Take a moment and celebrate what needs to be celebrated or take time to evaluate what needs to be changed. But remember the one who is faithful to us and let’s make this year another that we are faithful to him.

In Christ,

Steve, Holly and Rosie
